Our dances are posted on the adjacent calendar. Our group is a private educational group.
Member Dancers should RSVP their availability to basementsquares@revette.org, so that we will be sure that we have enough dancers to fill a square. If you'd like to become a part of our group, please send a query to the same email.
We use computer squares to rotate the dancers in and out, and single dancers (no partner) are welcome.
We have a lot of fun and improve our dancing as we learn calls from both normal and not so normal dance setups. We enjoy being challenged and learning from a variety of callers using material previously recorded at various venues. It's fun to move to tempo to sometimes challenging material. And we all know, you can't beat square dancing as a fun way to get physical and mental exercise while we're doing a social activity.
We expect that our dancers are able to move with the potentially fast-paced tempo. We don't require the dancers to be fully proficient. That will come, since after all that's our purpose.
Basement Square(s) is a group of plus level square dancers that (as the name suggests) dances in the basement of one of the members. We're located in Frankenmuth, MI and generally dance on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays.
Calendar below has Basement Squares events as well as events that "our" callers are featured at, and the NEMA dances. As we can, we should support "our" callers by attending their events. Also, we'll have a great time.
When Basement Squares was active, this was the calendar for it.
That calendar no longer exists, so I've just added Johnny Preston's calendar as a place holder.
RECAP of last dance
We had 9 of us at our last dance of this season. We knew enough to take breaks (Thanks, Ken), especially since many of us were dancing injured - knee, foot, hernia repair. We all did great, but a special shout out goes to Dale after his hernia repair.
We missed those unable to attend, but we understand that things like FL, deer season and life events occur.
We're glad all of you were able to dance with us this year. We had fun!
If you make it to FL, do look us up.

We dance from 7:00 - 9:00, but you're welcome to come anytime after 6:15 or stay after 9:00 to socialize.
